Upgrade of Processor for Compaq Presario C700 (Hp Compaq c792vu)

I'm writing this post because there are so many people around stuck with a slow Compaq C700 which is a budget laptop but it can be actually upgraded, so that it would have the same specs as a high end laptop and the best part is it will cost you less that $300. Before anyone says anything regarding the price of the upgrade I'm assuming you have already bought the C700 laptop and has been using it for a while and you don't want to spend too much money buying a new laptop.
So after a lot of googling the best website I found with a lot of info is Overclockers.com.au they had a lot of info on which CPU is could use and all that. I just saw a post prior to writing this that someone had actually been successful in upgrading the ram to 4GB with a single 4GB stick which I cannot confirm just yet.
Memory Upgrade
At the moment I have gotten the memory up to 3GB ram with a combination of a 1Gb stick and a 2Gb stick. You will have to check which one need to go on the bottom one. I differs with the motherboard well atleast that's what I have read on the net.
Processor Upgrade
The processor I used was the Intel core2duo T5250 with is a 1.5Ghz processor as that was the budget i had then. It cost me AUD60 on ebay. At the time the more powerful 2.0Ghz was going
at AUD 150-AUD200 so I didn't wanna spend 140 bucks extra for .5Ghz but I might go for it in a few months. The process of taking apart the laptop its pretty easy. Anyone who has some experience in unscrewing a few screws and who has delicate hands can do this. I did this for the first time too. The only thing you have to be careful is all the little cables/ribbon cables which are under the keyboard which need to be pull out slowly and delicately. The other 2 cables were the wifi card cable which is easier to take off at the start when you remove the back cover. I realized it only later. Lastly pull out the dvd writer and the hard drive before you go deeper because they can be in the way when you get to the processor. Oh yeah lastly the hard part is you can't completely get the board off as there is a few cables which cannot be disconnected so you have to life the board up maybe get someone help you and then take the processor off by unscrewing the 4 screws around the processor and then lifting it out slowly. I have posted some screen shots on here. Have a look at the end result. I haven't really seen a difference in the battery life or the temperature but it sure is way faster.mesothelimoa

Lenovo Ideapad S10 Review

I should say I was a bit skeptic when I first heard about netbooks because of there size and the processor in that I wasn't very happy with it. But then I heard about the lenovo S10 which had a 160Gb harddrive 1Gb or RAM. So I went to a shop to just do a trial run. Run a few applications and see how it will do under a lot of workload. Well to my suprise it did so well. I have a ASUS f3JC and home which have a Core2duo processor and 1Gb RAM and I can tell you the lenovo was right up there with it. Since its got Windows XP I think that helps quite a bit as Vista can be a memory drainer. I ran a few programs on the S10 and I also put on a streaming video from HULU.com which ran perfect no problems what so ever. I have had the S10 for about a week now and I'm really happy with it. It takes a bit of getting use to but once you get use to it it's just awesome. you woundn't have a clue whether your are using a less powerful processor unless you look at the sticker or the specs because it just keep up with you without a problem. I went and upgraded my RAM to 2gb just so I can make it a bit future proof. It already has a 160Gb harddrive which is plenty for now because I use a 500Gb external hardrive for most of my music and data backups. When you look at the s10 you won't think of it as a low budget netbook. Its got a very rich sleek finish and mind you it's one of the thinnest netbooks I have seen in the market at the moment. CES 2009 had a few new ones come out which are a bit sleeker but this just as good as any of them. Well thats my personal opinion. Ok looking at the specs it's got WIFI,ethernet, a 160Gb harddrive, 1Gb RAM, 1.6 Ghz intel atom processor. The U.S models does not come with bluetooth but I can be fixed to be in built bluetooth as the international models does come with it and you can get the bluetooth reciever from ebay for about $35 and its really easy to fix there is video about that on youtube so if anyone is interested they show just have a look at that. I personally don't use bluetooth that much and I just carry a bluetooth dongle with me which I had before. The screen is 10.2 inches and that has plenty of desktop real estate for all your portable needs. It can get a bit annoying and a bit of getting use to but a few days work will make it feel like home.

Overall I think this is a great netbook and I'm recomending it to anyone who needs a cheap ultra portable laptop. The usual ultra portables go for over $900 so if you are not a heavy video editor or graphics editor and use it only for the basic computer needs this is great.mesothelimoa

Cracked AppStore Apps for iPhone FW 2.1

I upgraded my iPhone firmware to 2.1 and I have to say that this is the best firmware I have seen at the moment. There is a lot less crashes and I installed the fw and jailbroke it only once where as the previous fw gave me trouble after jailbreaking and had to do it a few times. the best part is the new cracked app store gives us the ability to use the Apple app store apps on a jailbroken iPhone. These apps are actually saved as .ipa and not .app. I was a bit confused at the start but it seem this is a way more easier way to get apps. It seems that rather than using cydia or Installer 4 and there is lot less issues on the iphone too. Although you intially have to use Cydia and add a couple of patches the process is quite simple. There is a patch on Cydia called ipa you install that first. Oh I forgot there is a little catch. You need to get one free app from the original app store before you can add cracked apps. This is not a issue as there are plenty of free apps on the app store. Once you have the free app the itunes will have a new section on the left called applications. All you have to do is download the apps from the website below and drag and drop the .ipa files to the applications section on itunes and then sync the iphone and you are done. It's lot easier than going through cydia to find one by one which applications you need. All you have to do is go to the apps store browse and see which apps you want and go to http://appulo.us/appdb/ and search and download them. Like I said its a lot easier than Installer or Cydia

Free Apps for iPhone 1.1.4

As you know not all apps on iPhone's installer is free. Some utilities such as Kate or games like amaze are trails or you need to pay a price to get the full app. I ran in to a really nice site called www.xsellize.com . Its pretty good, it's free and all you have to do is register there and you can access all the apps they have cracked. Once you register go to installer and then add a new repo as follows :

http://xsellize.com/installer/user-pass
i.e if your user name is test
and password is 1234
you add
http://xsellize.com/installer/test-1234

hope this helps and comment with any questions.

Customize 2.0RC1 Compatability with FW1.1.4

I thought I would write this post because I was a iphone 2g owner who just couldn't get customize to get running. I seems to crash however way I installed it whatever patch I installed. So I thought I should get this information out to other people who have this problem. First off if you have CYDIA installer installed this might not work. Well I didn't work for me. This would be easier if you are restoring your phone because then the file system is all fresh. What you need to do is go to www.iappcat.com and register. This is the easiest way to do it rather than adding different repo's to the installer and slow it down. Then once you have registered you can make your own repo's. Here's a video on how to register http://tinyurl.com/67qsbc. and add your own repo on iappcat. So what you need to search for in iappcat is SUID Lib Fix 1.5 this is the file you require. Install this and then get customize 2.0RC1 off iapp cat itself and install that. Once this is done installer should run with no problems. Remember I couldn't get this to work when CYDIA was installed so make sure that is not installed and if you were like me just restore the phone first believe me it is worthwhile doing that.
